Workshops

Workshop information…

With input from Roger Crocombe and other BRCC members we will continue our practical Workshops and these are available to all club members. (Please note that the workshops will continue to run right through the ‘closed’ season).

Alll our planned workshops can be seen on the Upcoming Workshops page.

The whole list can be seen here on the All Workshop History page.

For the new season we are back to face to face workshops at St Mary’s Centre small hall on Saturday mornings at 09:30 for most, but not all, Workshops.

Please aim to arrive there about 10 to 15 minutes before the start time so we can get under way promptly.

Note start and end times!

Attendance is limited primarily to BRCC members only, on a first come first served basis. A small charge is payable on the day to cover the direct costs of the event and our accommodation at the venue. If you are not a member, but would like to attend, then please contact us via the website form.

Note that there needs to be a minimum of six delegates for each workshop to be viable, so if you are intending to attend then please book in or there is a risk of cancellation.

You reserve your place using our Eventbrite based booking system with individual links for each workshop. Bookings for each workshop are normally opened a minimum of four weeks in advance and the link to the booking is shown in the Members’ Area. You will need to log in.

When booking you will be emailed a booking receipt.

The purpose of these and future workshops is to improve everyone’s photographic understanding through sharing and so help us all to get more enjoyment and pleasure out of our hobby.

N.B. Event booking ceases at midnight immediately before the workshop.

SxPF PRINT CHAMPIONSHIP 2022

Unfortunately, the 2022 SxPF Print Championship exhibition day has been cancelled due due circumstances beyond the
control of the SxPF team. This is a great shame as it has always been exciting to see the prints and hear from the judges on
the day.
One positive though, is that judge Chris Palmer FRPS EFIAP DPAGB APAGB, has been able to judge the competition
entries, albeit behind closed doors. The results will be made available as soon as possible.
The SxPF plan to have the Print Championship award ceremony as part of their AGM, which is provisionally scheduled for
June 2022 and also, if possible, present a short video commentary from the judge of the winning images.
Please call back here for more details.

Here are our images submitted to the competition.

Printing at Chi University, Bognor Campus

With Bognor Regis Camera Club returning to a full calendar of activities, and a full completion programme it is time to get printing again. For most of us this is an activity we haven’t revisited for a while.

Whether you have entered print competitions or not let me remind you of the printing capability available at Chichester University’s Bognor Campus.

Please see this document for a brief guide and a link to the relevant workshop notes.

Club Meetings

With the (partial?) return to normality club meetings have returned to Tuesday Evenings at St. Mary’s Hall. It’s great to see lots of members face-to-face for the first time in 18 months or so.

We do ask that you observe Covind 19 procedures to limit the spread of the Corona virus, especially as we have several member who are in the more vulnerable end of society.

  • Do not attend if you show any of the Covid-19 symptoms
  • Please take a lateral flow test earlier on the day before coming.
  • (These are available free from most chemists or medical practices.)
  • Use hand sanitiser on entry.
  • Wear a mask unless seated.
  • Keep seating separated (unless you are in a ‘bubble’).
  • Avoid crowding.

In the hall the seating will be arranged with at least one seat of space all round and the upper windows will be left open to increase ventilation. This may make it a bit chilly over the winter period, so dress with this in mind!

To avoid queues we are currently NOT supplying teas and coffees at the interval. You are welcome to bring your own refreshments.

Please note that some events which will be held in the hall may have the presenter appearing via Zoom.  In some cases it may be that the presenter, or someone in their close circle, is vulnerable. For others it may be that the presenter is located a long distance away.

BRCC 52 WEEK CHALLENGE

The challenge is simple: Take one picture a week throughout the year and share it with club members.

You will need a free Flickr subscription. Go to https://www.flickr.com/and sign up.

You can find the 2023 group by clicking here

It has been running for a while and there are over a hundred images to explore. So now it’s your turn to join in. There is no subject. All that’s asked is:

Week-18-2021-Lively-Sailing-_DSF3815.jpg

Please post one picture for each week starting the first Monday in January for each of the 52 weeks. Each picture should be made during the week it represents. All images must be taken by the member who posts them and free of any third party copyright restrictions.

Put a week number in your tags and in your title and/or description. Try this format:

2301-Your Title for the first week and so on…

A few lines of description and commentary about the picture will help people in the group to interact more with you.

Please, no content that might be considered offensive – you know what we mean.

Our group is small and personable and is restricted to Bognor Regis Camera Club members.

Do comment on others images. Helpful critiques of others’ images are welcome, but any offensive comments will be removed. The more you put in the more you will benefit and enjoy.

Upload with a smile!

You may find it helpful to place your images in your area into an Album to help you keep track. Albums found in ‘Organise’.

On-line events & Covid-19

BRCC organised a series of online photographic and social activities whilst the Covid-19 restrictions were in place.

The club’s programme was re-arranged to be presented on-line via Zoom until we can all gather together again at St Mary’s hall. Registration is not required in advance, please see your latest edition of Snapshots in your email in box.

We took advantage of the removal of distance limits and added some visiting speakers from afar. We hope to continue the occasional use of Zoom into the future.

Please see the WORKSHOPS and CLUB MEETINGs categories for all latest information. These events were increased in frequency during lockdown and were very well attended.

To book in for any workshop go to the Members’ area and look at the Workshops section, regardless of the event type, and you will find a link to the event’s booking.

All these events are free for members, unless specifically notified.

Where a login is required, e.g. for a Zoom event, then these are sent to all registered participants about 24 hours before the event by email.
